The vestibule on the ground floor contains bunk beds set up like a 'pod hotel', offering a private sleeping space for two.
Tucked underneath the mezzanine is a full bathroom, a powder room, and a spacious kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals - plus a Nespresso machine to start the day off right. This adjoins the sanctuary, where you will find three comfy sofas facing a large fireplace and wall-mounted TV, a work station, a dining area, and a games nook.
Staying at Haven on High is a restful experience, and we’ve prepared relaxing activities to help you lean into the rejuvenating qualities of the space. We invite you to peruse our collection of books about Tasmania, put on a record, pull out a yoga mat, unpack one of 50+ board games and puzzles, or re-watch your favourite film. And of course, getting cosy by the fire is a must.

This is a once in a lifetime experience that we enjoyed and highly recommend to other people. My little kids kept calling it the amazing church house! The place has very positive energy. It has high quality kitchen utensils, very well-equipped with furniture, and extraordinarily supplied with entertainment such as games, music player & soundbar, fireplace, coffee, milk, etc. The host, Matt has put a lot of time and effort decorating and making this place an amazing experience to be shared with other people. The place has a lot of thoughtful and planned details. I give this experience an easy 10 out of 10 rating. Many thanks Matt!
Heaven on High in Campbell Town is an absolute gem and a must-stay for anyone traveling through Tasmania. This property is a beautifully preserved piece of history that has been thoughtfully modernized without losing its original charm. The stay was incredibly well-organized, with every detail attended to, making our visit seamless from start to finish. It is especially fantastic for families; our kids loved exploring the unique space and the historic atmosphere. We cannot recommend this Airbnb highly enough for its character, cleanliness, and superb hosting. It truly lives up to its name!
We have been on a two-month self-drive trip in Australia from QLD to VIC and then to TAS, staying in many different Airbnbs, and Matt’s church was absolutely our favorite. Every day, without even stepping outside, we could enjoy coffee that was as good as what you’d find in Melbourne. The fully equipped kitchen made cooking here like a reward rather than a task. I was completely immersed in all the Tasmania-related art and books that Matt provided. Lighting our own fire in the evening was such a wonderful experience! Honestly, my husband and I didn’t want to go out at all; we just wanted to stay and enjoy this beautiful church.
Haven on High, hosted by beautiful Matt, was the perfect weekend getaway. Campbell town is full of rich history, great cafes and wonderful antique shops. The church was a *stunning* place to stay with beautiful stained glass windows and the most comfortable beds. Matt was responsive and kind and made sure we were fully equipped for our stay. Thank you again, Matt, for such a wonderful weekend away!
Thanks for a fabulous stay. Everything was perfect - by far the most special B&B we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. An experience unto itself and a great window into the area’s history.
There is something very calming and soothing about waking up in a big room with high wooden beams and sunlight gently dappling through stained glass windows. Haven on High is comprehensively stocked with every amenity. It is wonderfully decorated and it's ideal for just sitting back, relaxing and soaking up the history of the building and the district. Its location on High Street is perfect for shopping, sightseeing and enjoying all the charm of a small town. And Campbell Town is a perfect hub from where you can explore the island state further. We're certainly coming back again.
Very tastefully decorated while maintaining old elements. Equipped with every comfort. Wonderful stove to burn.
Admirably done, great ambience, very comfortable & private, everything you needed was provided. Easy to move around the town, close to all amenities. Will be back again!!
This beautiful church is a stunning place to stay. From the gorgeous stained glass windows to the cosy living with woodfire, the host has paid attention to all of the little details including emergency toiletries and a huge selection of board games. Beds were comfortable and the overall weekend was cosy and homely. We booked both the church and cottage for our family and could of easily had more people stay - great for older kid families. Matt's property is one of a kind and a must see on your Tasmanian adventure whether you're a tourist or local.
Matt's Haven is a beautiful space, thoughtful touches throughout and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Open plan with a large wood heater to keep the place warm, and well stocked kitchen for an evening meal. Beautiful garden space, with seating area and fire pit. Walkable to all shops eateries and hotel and great off-street parking. A great place to stay a night or a central base to explore the area. Will stay again Thanks Matt 🌻

As a lover of repurposed architecture, Haven owner and host Matt Collins is particularly drawn to the beauty of historic churches, and spent years seeking an opportunity to give an old church a new life. When he discovered Brickhill Memorial Church on "Churches for Sale Australia" - a Facebook group of more than 100,000 members - he knew he'd finally found the perfect one.
Matt spends many evenings pondering ways to improve the guest experience, as well as managing the ongoing maintenance and restoration work involved in caretaking a heritage site. Helping guests enjoy the culture and history of Haven on High, Campbell Town, and Tasmania is Matt's greatest joy and accomplishment.
